Neuroscience Section

Harwell has an extensive portfolio of research in the discovery and characterization of mouse models of neurological, behavioural and sensory disorders. Mental Health is a priority for all the major funders in the biomedical sciences arena. Diseases of the nervous and sensory system represent a substantial and growing burden on the ageing population and our health care system.
The Neuroscience section includes three research groupings Neurobehavioural Genetics, Neurodegenerative Disease and the Molecular Genetics and Pathobiology of Deafness. New major collaborations with the LMB (Michel Goedert) on modifiers of tauopathies and with UCL (Lizzie Fisher) on modifiers of motor neuron disease represent a continuing expansion in our interests in neurodegenerative disease.
