Professor Steve Brown has been awarded a visiting professorship by The Royal Society Yusuf Hamied Programme, the Royal Society announced today.

Supported by the Yusuf and Farida Hamied Foundation, this programme provides the opportunity for Fellows and Foreign Members of The Royal Society to visit research centres in India each year. The programme aims to share “expertise between scientific communities in the UK and India,” in order to develop links and promote international collaboration.

Professor Brown will visit the Indian Institute for Science, Education and Research in Pune and the National Centre for Biological Sciences in Bangalore. The main aim of the visit is to build on existing interactions emerging between the UK and India in the arena of mouse genetics and genomics and cement and expand relationships between the two countries. This will strengthen the ability and ambition of both the UK and India to enhance the impact of mouse studies in the two countries on genomic medicine, the study of disease mechanisms and delivery of novel therapeutics for healthcare.
